I’ve been so busy the past couple of weeks with work and so many other things. Unfortunately another young life has been lost due to suicide and I’m going to the viewing tomorrow. Such a wonderful young man gone and so sad to see such a wonderful family deal with the grief.
I wonder when all of the madness will end. If you need a friend to talk to, I lend you my ear and my heart.
Love love LOVE your blog and youtube channel. All I'd ever want in a nail art channel considering content, process and design <3 I was wondering would every consider doing a how to for acrylic nails??? Thanks & Happy Holidays!
Thank you so so much, I’m so glad to hear that! I haven’t considered it yet, but I may do one in the future. :)
About a month ago, I got a full set of gels put on my nails, which is the same process as getting a set of acrylics on. As most of you may know, you nails are torn up and weak after removing the set, especially for those of you who rip or chew them off instead of getting them professionally removed.
I’ve been getting so many questions about dry brittle nails. Although my nails are destroyed from having fake nails removed, getting naturally damaged nails and nails that just went through a full set back to good health is the same process.
I’ll be showing you an instructional on how to properly remove a set of fake nails, and how to care for them right after in the comfort of your own home. Hope it helps a lot of you!
Hey! First off, I absolutely LOVE all of your designs. They're so creative, original, and somehow you manage to do them all meticulously! I've just recently gotten addicted to nail polish and your designs are always such an inspiration. Now, my question-- I know people always tell you never to cut your cuticles.... but I did anyway because i didn't like their shape. Now my cuticles are really dark, even more uneven, and tough and annoying. >.< Do you have any tips/recommendations for what to do?
Thank you sooo so much! I really appreciate that! So sorry for the late response, I’ve had a hectic week. You can trim your cuticles if they’re grabbing on and growing with the nail plate (the scientific term for cuticle over growth is pterygium). Also, if they’re minimal in appearance and don’t get snagged or cause hang nails, I would leave them alone. I understand what you mean by the cuticles being hardened, and obviously it’s because of the continuous snipping. What you need to do is moisturize your hands and oil your cuticles on a daily basis. I recommend using any of OPI’s products from the Avoplex line. It’s formulated specifically for people with problems like yours. Hope this helps!
I just found out a friend that I unfortunately didn’t keep in touch which for quite some time killed himself and I’m so incredibly heart broken by this. He was a brilliant, sweet, intelligent man and I can’t believe the world lost somebody so precious.
Please, please PLEASE listen. You are all my friends even though we haven’t formally introduced ourselves to eachother. Let’s start now.
My name’s Alexandra, or you may know me as Algae Veronica and it’s really a pleasure to meet you.
Please do not be intimidated or afraid to talk to me if you need to vent or scream or cry or just plain old talk. Just know that I am here for you. I know I’m a stranger to you, but know that I give my heart and my shoulder to you if you ever need it.
Please do not resort to taking your own life. Life is too beautiful and precious, and so are you.
Message me, anonymous or not. If you’d like to make a new friend, I’d like to be yours. Hey you with your gorgeous nails! First of all; I love your work! :) I had a question; I've been in denial for way too long that my nails are weak. I had something for it that worked great, but I would like to try a nail hardener. I know you're not supposed to use it for over 2 weeks, but I wanted to know if you can use nail polish over it. The nail hardener that I have says you have to apply 1 coat, a 2nd coat the next day and remove it on the 3rd day. Do I have to follow that? Thanks! :)
Hi! Thank you so much!!! <3 ALWAYS follow manufacturers directions 100%. Different brands and types of nail strengtheners are formulated in specific ways, so when they advise you on how to use a product, it’s to ensure you get the best and correct results out of the formula. Honestly, I wouldn’t wear a polish over a strengthener especially if it’s not a good quality polish. Some polishes can dry out your nail plate which can defeat the purpose of using the strengthener in the first place. After a few weeks I would start wearing the polish over your nails, but then it could slowly revert back to it’s old ways of being dry and brittle if you don’t use a good quality polish. Hope this helps and thanks so much for checking out my stuff!
My nails have deep ridges and lines in them. Is there any way to repair this and/or prevent this from happening (if I can get them smooth again in the first place)? Thanks!
Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do about the ridges and lines on your nails. But, there’s one thing you need to make sure of— are the ridges horizontal or vertical? Vertical lines are fairly common. Horizontal lines can be an implication that you have a thyroid or respiratory problem, or perhaps something else. The most you can do is get a ridge filler (I believe Orly makes one) or buff the surface of your nail plate to smooth it down. Hope this helps!
Do you know how to keep nails from cracking because after a manicure my nails would get long and one always end up cracking and I get so mad because it makes me nails uneven =(
Sometimes the way your nail grows is determined by the nail matrix in your finger. If there was some kind of trauma done to your finger, this can influence the crack in some way. If that’s not the case, your nails could be very dry. Try laying your hands on suran wrap, drizzle olive oil on your nails, and then wrap them. This is an excellent and affordable way to do a deep moisturizer. If you’re on the go, I would get a good quality cuticle oil and place them on your nails. Refrain from using any type of drying agents like Acetone or nail polish remover. This causes big time dryness! I suggest OPI’s Avoplex Cuticle Oil To Go. It’s fantastic!
What tips do you have on stopping polish from separating? I only have maybe 4/50 or so bottles. I'd have 100s if I could I just don't wanna spend money and it be wasted if they seperate. I do use a lot of OPI and China Glaze though. :) I keep them under my dressing table in boxes away from UV rays. :)
Every 2-4 weeks I go through my polish and shake them up. Also, my salon always stays cool so that always keeps my polish in good shape. If you notice your polish is getting too goopy or thick, try putting in 1-3 drops of nail polish thinner into the bottle and shake away. Hope this helps! <3
Hey! your nail art is so awesome! But I was wondering if you had any tips to growing nails. I'd love to have lovely long ones but I'm finding it hard to stop biting and grow them. xx
Thanks so much! Yes, I definitely have some great tips!
Get regular manicures. Most of my clients who get a regular manicure tend to avoid biting their nails. You’d hate to ruin your perfect mani by biting your nails, right? :)
Keep your nails polished. See 1. Also, and I’m not condoning this by any means lol, if you chip away at your polish instead of your actual nail plates it might keep you busy. Once again, I do not condone this but hey, it might help. If you can get your hands on “No Bite” by Orly, I’d try that too. It’s a polish that leaves a really bitter taste when you start chewing at your nails.
Get Axxium or Shellac put on your nails. These systems are specifically made for people with short nails, especially Axxium which is a gel lacquer system by OPI. I offer it to my clients and they absolutely love it. They especially love how long their nails get in just 1 or 2 weeks!
Keep your nails buffed, filed, and moisturized. This will help your nails grow out beautifully and healthy. I suggest using OPI’s Avoplex Cuticle Oil To Go. If you can’t get your hands on it or don’t know where to find them, I would be more than happy to send you one. :)
Relax! A bit stressed out lately? Try to unwind or take out your frustrations on a piece of people or a squishy balls and not your poor little nail beds!
