Ever since I found your tumblr I've stepped my nail art up 110% I'm aspiring to be as talented as you one day. Would you ever think about doing tutorials?
Thank you so so so much! I’m so happy to hear that! I’m definitely going to do tutorials soon. I just need to find some time, I’ve been so busy! I’ll DEFINITELY get it going soon, though! Thanks again! xox
I really, really admire you. Your nail designs are beyond amazing! Ever since I've seen your designs, I've been dying to get my nails done by you. They are absolutely amazing & I love every single one of them!
Thank you SO much for the kind message. It means so much to me! And thanks you for looking at my art, I can’t believe how many people dig it. You’re way awesome, though, so you need to come see me ASAP! :) Thanks so much again!!
As a thank you for following me and for all of the amazing feed back, I’ll be doing a giveaway very soon. This “survival kit” will include several OPI and/or China Glaze polishes, my favorite top and base coat, nail files and buffers, rhinestones, and more! Keep your eyes peeled! Thanks again for everything!
Do you cure your nail polish? If so, then how? I LOVE having creative nails but being a full time Mom, they barely last a day with my chores. I had a pro manicure done for my wedding and it lasted six weeks before it started chipping! Can you reproduce that outside of a salon?
I only cure my nail polish if I use a specific lacquer designed to be cured. There are several products out there that can achieve this result, a couple of them being Axxium or Shellac. Technically these are only available to licensed professionals only. I know that Sally’s Beauty Supply sells UV lights, so that takes care of the medium you need to cure the nail. As far as the soak-off gel lacquer goes, I’m not quite sure you can buy that, but I would try Sally’s and see if they sell it to the public. I really hope you figure something out!!
I really like your nail-art! I'm also crazy about nailpolish , but i don't work very neatly. Have you got any tips for me ? X
I definitely understand what you mean. Applying polish is all about pressure and weight. Try resting your pinky on the table while painting your nail- the more stable your hand is, the more chances of having a neat, even coat of paint on your nail. Make sure you use a base coat, 2 coats of polish, and a nice top coat. 1 coat of polish may look streaky and uneven, and 3 could begin to look goopy and take a long time to dry. By putting 2 even coats of polish on, you should have the perfect finish. Lastly, make sure your skin is free of nail polish. You can dip a q-tip in a little bit of polish remover and carefully clean up the sides- this gives an over all clean appearance and it makes all the difference in the world. Thank you sooo much for checking out my blog!!! xox
omg alexandra! i just found your tumblr and I am in love! I'm currently at beauty school and i'm one of like 3 girls who love to do nails over hair. Anyways, your nail art in fantastic and I'm jealous of your talent!
Thank you sooo so much!!! :) Yes, I think I was 1 of just barely a hand full of people who liked to do nails. I wish I had pictures of my art when I first started, they were pretty rough! Haha Keep practicing, you will certainly be pro in no time!! xoxo
How were you able to work in a salon during your time in college? That's what I wanted to do for some money on the side, but if I don't have a license how do you do it?
I used to go to that salon a lot, so when the owner found out that I had left my previous job, she asked if I could work there as an assistant and receptionist. I got to learn how to do a lot of things on the side. You’re right, you need to be licensed to actually work on clients, so I couldn’t go further unless I went to school for it so that’s when I went to cos college.
How do you keep your polish from separating? What makes them separate in the first place? I have a lot of nail polish, but they look unsightly because of the separation.
Polish separating is inevitable. Most chemicals in polish aren’t soluble, so they rise to the top. Many polishes have metal balls inside to help mix the color and the clear liquid at the top, so make sure you mix really well before using it. For example, one of my matte colors by OPI advises that there WILL be a clear liquid at the top and I need to shake very well before using. Also, if you feel that your polish is dry or clumpy, try putting 1 or 2 drops of nail polish THINNER in your bottle. Some people do nail polish remover instead, but I’ve never had good results from doing that. Usually my polish gets worse from doing that. Make sure you keep your polish in a cool, dry place too. Hope this helps. xox
heey sooo im likee in love with ur nail art... ur sooo talented... i would have u do my nails insteadd of going to the nail salon... :) when did u startt designing naills? :)
Thank you!!! :) I’ve always had a fascination with nails and nail polish for as long as I remember, but I never took it “seriously”. I started working at a nail salon while I was in college and I LOVED it so much! I loved going to work every day and it was always so enjoyable, so I decided to pursue cosmetology and now I’m a licensed cosmetologist. It’s soo so so fun! Thanks for checking out my blog! xoxo
